Seen a few people talk about this, bit of a misunderstanding. You’re thinking of escaping the event horizon, not the pull of a black hole, that’s not so much of an issue. Nolan never crossed the event horizon.

Bear in mind, I’m not a physicist, may get stuff wrong or not word it properly.

You could have a black hole with the mass of Earth, and a rocket would be able to pass by without being pulled in, because the hole has the same pull as earth. Until you cross the event horizon, then nothing can escape. May not be a great analogy, because I think a black hole with the mass of earth would be tiny.

Someone correct me if I got that wrong

like seriously, do they think an event horizon’s range is infinite? do they just think everything is slowly being pulled towards black holes? I don’t get it.

If people don’t look into it there’s no reason they’d know. I know about this because I’ve been interested in physics since first school and watched loads of documentaries, YouTube videos and read into it.

It’s not relevant to a lot of people though, so lots of people won’t have any reason to know what an event horizon is

I know that, but it’s common sense that there’s a distance in which black holes don’t trap you and rip you to shreds. That’s why we’re safe here from black holes. It’s simple logic.

That’s once past the event horizon, Nolan wasn’t even close to the event horizon.you could see the bits of metal from the ship floating past him and they weren’t moving fast.
