This is why “they’re as strong as they need to be for the plot” just doesn’t work, because it creates big inconsistencies as these. Mark should’ve not been able to borderline beat Thula, someone as old and skillful as Nolan. That’s actually why I thought they rejuvenated that random viltrumite, so it’s more believable he doesn’t get pummeled by him, but now it’s worse lmao
I don’t think there was anything indicating he was close at all. He looked like he got into a fight with Muhammad Ali in a bare-knuckle boxing match, whereas she looked like she just tripped and busted her lip on a door frame.

Yeah Thula is not as skilled as Nolan. Nolan couldn’t take on all 3 at once so Mark was asked to help. 2 of them? I have a feeling Nolan might win that. 1 on 1 he for sure cleans house.
Mark for SURE was just meant to be a distraction so Nolan could clean up the first guy and then wrap around to deal with Thula. And it worked, too, it’ just crazy Lucan is the monster he is.
Oh 100%. Lucan lost, but having your guts spilled doesn’t stop him apparently. I’m rather okay with them giving Mark some power here and able to at least go toe to toe with Thula for a bit. She wasn’t be killed by him, but she wasn’t gonna kill him either.
I get if power scaling gets out of hand and is crazy wild or whatever, but sometimes…sometimes I just want a cool fight where the MC has some power. This worked for me. Mark is still out of his league, but we can see that he can definitely be a powerhouse. Thula definitely wasn’t being crazy serious, Nolan definitely knocked some wind out of her, and she got caught off guard by Mark’s sudden demeanor change. I’m telling people take your power BS and stuff it. It was a cool as hell to see Mark throw some hands and not be a ragdoll for once in the show! We have 1000 more chances to see Mark get split open. Let him win one, give some false hope to animated fans!

I interpret it differently; I dont think he almost beat her. He barely did any damage to her and he was fucked. He has her in a disadvantageous position, but whos to say that punch would have killed her? We legit saw less than a minute before Mark tanking her knee straight up to the face. He probably wouldnt have been able to physically kill her there even if he didnt hesitate
She knows he was holding back to a degree and knows hes soft as shit; they animate in a way that shows her acting all sad and defeated so he drops his guard. I believe she was toying with him
She would have told him so if she had been toying with him. Nothing indicates that she did, we’re just lead to believe he beat her fair and square.
No, not when she was fighting him necessarily, but I feel like in that moment shes toying with his emotions/human side when it looks like shes accepting defeat.

Again, I don’t think she is, and yeah he could’ve killed her right there I believe. There’s a difference between hitting someone who knows they’re going to get hit (and therefore braces for impact) and hitting someone who doesn’t know.

To me she could have gotten out of that situation, her hands were completely free and so were her legs, but she knew he was soft as hell and played him with that despondent look on her face. She legit hadnt taken basically any damage compared to Mark
