I also love this seasons strange/creepy kind of vibe to it, the background music in episode 2 really elevated it too

That’s all it has been. I’m losing interest in the whole show because of it. There’s no wins, no redeeming qualities, just heartache after heartache and brutal beatings.

Well it’s a long heroes journey. Mark isn’t invincible because he can not be touched. He is invincible because he gets broken physically and mentally, and he always get back up. He may have ptsd and abandonment issues, but he keeps getting back up. It’s admirable in it’s own way, that it’s not his superman like super strength that makes him a hero, but rather his will to keep going.

It’s not just Mark’s journey that is depressing. I know he’ll get back up. I don’t need to read the comic to know that. He has Main Character Immunity. Everybody else that suffers and dies along the way are all just meat for the grinder and the show hasn’t brought anything to the table this season for me to find that entertaining or impactful.

Gotta say, the show took Donald from a character I barely bothered to remember (even when he appeared in the Guardians spin-off comics), to one I’m absolutely enthralled to watch.

Kirkman and company are absolutely cooking right now. S2 thus far has done everything better than the original and that’s saying something.

Allen actually took his beating with a smile. The second he saw that he was up against 3 Viltruimites, he smiled and egged them on to finish it. Gotta say, he has the attitude of a real champ.

Honestly, I’m very dissapointed with Season 2. Watched yesterday episodes 3 and 4 and the Nolan part was just ridiculous.

Episode 4 was easily one of the best episodes of the whole series, thus far. Phenomenal visuals, intense and gritty fights, and an exploration of emotional complexity for Nolan, Debbie, Mark, and Eve. The parallel montages for Nolan and Debbie were very poignant and impactful. Mark had to juggle missing his father and hating the atrocities Omni-Man committed on Earth, as well as the new family dynamic being sprung on him.

Episodes 1 and 2 were a bit slow/underwhelming after a 2 year hiatus, but the show is absolutely on the right track with its exploration of real human themes and Mark’s evolution in the world of being a “Hero”. Seems a large majority of the fanbase agrees, also.

It may sound odd but I’ve always been more invested in characters who suffer from some form of trauma, depression or loneliness. Maybe because to me they’re more relatable and that it makes them more interesting than someone who’s always happy.
