In terms of reading material, outside of shounen and some comedy, I’d say most (or, at least, a significant amount) of manga would have one miss out on details if they were to speed read it.
In terms of readers, most I know/have conversed with take about 40-60 minutes to read an average manga volume, which isn’t exactly speed-reading.
Manga readers love to speed read. Not the sort of thing you can do with American comics in my opinion.
