The Office, Shameless, The Thick Of It (Veep), etc were all shows set in England before being remade for American audiences with great success.

What it look like if the same was done for Ted Lasso?

As a Husky Alum and college football fan, what I’ve seen of Ted and Wrexham does remind me way more of college sports than pro here in the states. College fans are way more dedicated and fanatic. Each team has its traditions and long history (although a lot of that is going away with the TV networks trying to make college football more like the NFL), and you have that draw to the community of being an alum. No matter where life takes you, you’ll always be a fan of your school, and pass that on to your children.

And sorry to you as a Husky… I think it is even more like college football for schools like WSU, or OSU in Corvallis. You see Husky stuff in Seattle, but it isn’t EVERYWHERE. If you were to see someone wearing a Coug shirt or a Duck shirt at say, Pike Place Market, you might glance at them but you wouldn’t think THAT much about it. (You see all 4 schools represented in places like Cannon Beach - it can be a conversation starter!)

But you walk through Corvallis with a Duck jersey on, or Pullman with a Husky tshirt on, there better be a game happening. People will probably stare.

Where it differs is that members of the same family can have different allegiances (despite what I previously said) - my cousins (siblings) went to University of Oregon and Oregon State. There were two years where they were both college students as well. Both followers of football, and supporters of their universities. (They are also the first ones in the family to go to those schools). Makes for interesting sibling rivalry! On the other hand, during the Apple Cup, I root for WSU because that is where my Dad went for Grad school (although I don’t follow sports - I’m in it for the cheese, mainly. Cougar Gold is the bomb!)
