Im a few episodes behind I think, but I’m watching TJ & Kim’s wedding and wondering (ballpark) how much the two day event like this might cost in India? It looks beautiful with so many fireworks/sparklers, outfits, hair and makeup, the horse, details like the flower canope they held over Kim as she walked down the aisle, the tall fabric panels around the stage, henna artist & so many different ceremonies, etc.
Side note: Do we know who paid? I remember TJ saying his family was arranging it all and usually the bride’s family would, but don’t know if they mentioned if her side contributed financially.
Indian here - at least $20k USD. In addition to paying for venue, clothes, food for several hundred people, they would have bought Kimberly’s and the whole family’s outfits. Hers would have been around $500-1000. Then the family also gives cash envelopes and gifts to relatives. It’s madness and it adds up quickly.
my uncle and aunt (USD multi-millionaires) spent $100k on their daughter’s wedding. and that was 2007. There is no upper limit.
I’m not surprised. US weddings are expensive but Indian weddings seem so much more extra plus it’s like 3 days of celebrations. When you factor in the exchange rate, that price tag checks out.
So they pay their guests to attend?
Of course not. It’s a happy occasion. So you give a few close relatives and nieces and nephews some cash as a token of your gratitude and as a thank you for all the help. It’ll be like maybe 10-15 people. They would come regardless of the money or not.
damn, i wish people just handed me cash at happy get togethers - my family just gives out generational trauma lmao
There’s 100% generational trauma here if that makes you feel better haha!
