She’s worked at Lucas Arts since the 80s at least. She started out as an assistant to Spielberg and got bigger roles in the company as time went on. George Lucas hand picked her to lead the company when he stepped down.

But she is more of a business person than she is a movie creative type.

She co-founded Amblim entertainment with Spielberg and her husband in 1981, she didn’t have anything to do with star wars till force awakens.

She only worked with Lucas on the Indiana Jones films which were a coproduction between Amblim and Lucasfilm!

That second part is not true… she was involved with Star Wars in the prequels. She’s seen behind the scenes in the documentaries giving George advice and she was even interviewed on some of the commentary.

The prequels are amazing compared to the stuff they made when Disney took over Lucasfilm. The whole Rey plot. I blame that on directors though. All the potential was there and… somehow palpatine returned.

You can call almost anything great if you hold it to a low enough bar. I don’t think the prequels are better than the sequels, but they are far more original and interesting.

The big villain for the sequels was Bob Iger. He demanded that they push out one Star Wars movie per year so the production schedule was hell. Kathleen obviously deserves some of the flack, but on some level she was also just pushing through decisions from higher up in the chain.

And the directors obviously deserve a lot of flack as well. They had 0 plan for the sequels. thank you JJ Abrams and your mystery box.

“They had 0 plan for the sequels.”

Not true, according to the art books and what people associated with the films have said.

According to Driver, Abrams pitched him that Kylo was going to be inverse-Vader: start vulnerable and then progressively become more dangerous and in control. Which makes TLJ all the more crazy: Kylo, like everyone else, has the exact same arc as before.

I bet everyone else had arcs that were thrown away, too.

Michael Arndt also planned for an arc involving Leia rebuilding the republic in the sequels.

And Boyega has said that Finn’s force powers would have been explored as would the dynamic between Finn and Rey.

Alan Dean Foster has spoken about being instructed to undermine that relationship between Finn and Rey.

“I expected to see that developed further in [‘The Last Jedi’]. And zero happened with it. And we all know why zero happened with it — and there’s no need to go into it in-depth — but that’s, sadly, just the way things are.”

Johnson had totally dismantled Finn and pushed the Ren-Rey romantic relationship as the key one in this trilogy. Johnson admitted that he saw Rey and Kylo in TFA as the beginning of a “romantic” and “intimate” dynamic. She saw him murder his father and her mentor and Johnson felt that was “romantic” and “intimate”?

I don’t think she has the pull at Disney that everyone thinks she does. She’s the head of Lucasfilm, and that is a big deal, but not like it controls the whole company.

What has happened with Disney is a slow but catastrophic fuck up that I don’t think they’ll recover from anytime soon.

If anything Disney has just gotten high on the hog and used diversity as a excuse for their crappy, CGI shitfest films as a deflection. That and corporations have a social credit score called ESG, but from what I’ve heard it’s actually not that big of a deal.

If anything the people actually crapping up modern entertainment companies are the 27-40 year old millenials who don’t know how to do any practical skills and wasted their time in college being pointless activists wasting time and money.

Yeah I thought her running all of Disney was part of the joke.

I born in 92 and in the late 90’s and early 2000’s Disney was making quality content. Obviously all of them weren’t great, but there was a good chunk of them that were fantastic. I was watching the original 3 Pirates of the Caribbean films earlier this year and those films have so much style to them. Davy Jones still looks amazing, and the cinematography is gorgeous. You can see the money up on the screen. I don’t understand how we went from that to these bland remakes or dull superhero films that get shit out every year.

The head of the production studio of Star Wars and Indiana Jones - some of the best franchises to be ruined by idiotic management ever

She is responsible for a lot of disneys decline and share price collapse as South Park mentions

I’ve been annoyed with her for years. Not to the point where I wrote letters and such, but she isn’t a very good producer or studio head. She killed all the extended universe novels, and made me not care about Star Wars as much as I used to.

She was more of a glorified assistant back then. Perhaps it’s fairer to say she ‘s a bad boss. Once she was put in charge, only rubbish was made.

Cartman has always been a vessel for some seriously bad takes in South Park. This episode is no different. He even acknowledges that his actions provoked Kathleen to double down. He’s part of the problem. That’s the genius of South Park. They present both sides so they can be mocked.

I wonder if we’ll ever realize we have a people problem. The government is a reflection of the people, not the other way around. A reality TV society gets the reality TV government it continuously votes for.

I didn’t know who Kathleen Kennedy was, and I also haven’t seen any Indiana Jones or Star Wars things, so, at first I was confused bc I love a lot of the new Disney movies like Encanto, The Little Mermaid, Turning Red, etc etc and stuff but then I realized they weren’t talk about those movies.

To those arguing that the bad movies aren’t her fault—that’s not the point. The narrative from the “anti-woke”/right-leaning/Q-adjacent crowd is that she alone is responsible for ruining Star Wars and Disney. My friend, who can’t stop complaining to me about woke Disney, tells me all this stuff, despite me taking out my phone and browsing insta every time he does.

He’s gonna HATE the ending, but he’s already psyched to hear that Matt and Trey will be making sequels.
