That’s for the original show, because the partner without a green card is legally not allowed to earn money. But this isn’t the original show - they’re in the Philippines, so I imagine TLC was sending them both money before they were fired for breaking the NDA.

imo, I think that was the amount the cast was earning at the beginning but it goes up if they progress through other seasons and/or spin-offs. Otherwise, I can’t see very many potential cast members being ok with that.
She literally sold a handful of shampoo hanging from her corner store shack for pennies that she said she broke even with. Do u know how poor the neighborhood must be to be buying shampoo at a handful at a time?
She’s not getting paid though, from what I understand, and Brandan could likely make more just getting a regular job in the states, without all the mental trauma of being on TV.
You are 100% wrong, the foreigners get paid. The only show where they don’t is 90 Day, sometimes HEA IF THEY DONT HAVE WORKING PAPERS YET. If they’re in their own country they get paid, the same way you get paid if you work in your country.
To no one in particular, on ANY show, wherever they’re shooting, the person doing the “acting” only gets paid if they are legal to work in that country. On a temporary basis, sometimes they get temporary work visas. There is no rule about anyone getting paid or not getting paid but for what I’ve just said. And no one gets paid until the end and no one gets someone else’s “share”. It’s pretty cut and dried. Legal? Paid. Not? Won’t.
Further, they also only get paid for the number of episodes they actually show up in. These people can be filming for months, 12+ hours a day. After putting all that effort in, your story could still mostly end up on the cutting room floor.

Yeah the “you don’t know poverty until you poop in a river” comment of hers was annoying to say to her man who was homeless. But yet, only bc he had also been impoverished himself. Regardless these people really need money and considering literally every other cast member does stuff for these reasons we should give this couple the biggest of all breaks for doing so. Same if sheila made a cameo I wouldn’t be feeling any sort of way for it. I don’t even feel a certain way when ceasar, Brandon& Julia have it. I know that it is hard for them to gain money from the store that they made but making a cameo IS opening herself to more bullying and therefore will affect her mental health more. Guess who else is affected? The child AND Brandan.
