World War Z. An amazing and human retelling of the zombie apocalypse turned into a shitty action movie like all the others.

100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez - Some parts where heart-breaking (even more being from South America) and the end left me in a void after the amazing story.

Memory of Fire, Book One: Genesis by Eduardo Galeano - Many true tales of South-America’s origins, when the spanish/europeans arrive after the first half of the book it’s horrific how it devolves into carnage and violence.

Cipher by Kathe Koja - Just finished this one, some parts where really unnerving, the descriptions of the effects of the Funhole (a floating space of nothing) in things and it explodes into chaos.

House of Leaves

The first book in the Third Body Problem series. I don’t know why but I always read a bit, get distracted by something else (right now I’m reading Loop, the third one in the Ring series) and push it down in the list.

Also the 2nd book of the Dune series, loved the first one but the second was getting a bit too much diplomacy and “you already know what will happen, let me show how” to me.

After the one I’m reading I have more J-horror books to read and also I want to try reading Pontypool Changes Everything (“Zombies” of language sounds amazing to me and I loved the movie) so it’s going farther and farther down the list.

A it depressive sometimes but Ligotti has some amazing prose.

Honestly when I read that not finishing books is not wrong it freed me a lot of the feeling of HAVING to finish the book because other people say it’s good. Maybe at the moment your brain wants another thing and that’s totally fine.

Right now I’m reading Spiral (the second book in the Ring series) and am loving how it goes from horror in the first book to a medical thriller in the second.

I got into reading thanks to my father, an artist and lover of books, and my mother, a public school teacher. They always made sure that we had a book or comic close by.

I love when a book convinces you that the main conflict is solved and everyone is free from it but you see that there are still many pages left and you know something ain’t right.

You are not alone, I am struggling with both depression and anxiety (+ other things) and I started reading again by reading short horror stories (I love horror). Right now I am reading a self-help book to treat trauma and/or addiction, not many pages in but the fact that I identify with the things it says makes reading it easier
