It was really condensed in comparison to the story in the comics, I’m sure Mark is there for a couple of days while the ceremony is being organised and he talks to Lethan about Aquaria

So yeah that’s probably the biggest miss here is that Lethan doesn’t exist but he doesn’t exactly do anything in the comics after marrying Aquaria so they probably thought the sequence in the show could be changed

They want to execute him because he abandoned his post on Earth and then went to a planet he wasn’t suppose to go to that they didn’t think had strategic value.

Nolan turns because his time on Earth changed him and he has massive guilt over what he did to Mark and Debbie.
