He’s traumatized and very angry over Alannah’s passing. I don’t think anyone is denying that. However, Debbie was also a victim of Omni-Man and barely holding together with her own trauma from him (learning about his murdering of the guardians, being dehumanized with the pet line, watching as he not only killed thousands in his skirmish with Mark but also seeing him beat her son nearly to death). The fact he told her “it won’t be a safe space for you” just hurt like a truck…
He’s looking for someone to direct his anger towards and I get it (and I doubt a lot of people would have empathy for the wife of a mass killer if someone they knew/loved were victims of said killer), but yeah, he’s totally a Dick for saying that shit right after she poured her heart out with how much Nolan’s actions have tortured her mentally…
Seeing Mark not only stop holding back, but actually go toe to toe with a god damn viltrumite and somewhat succeed was SO satisfying, even if he does end up hesitating and getting hurt himself.
Also Mr Krabs himself, Clancy Brown, as General Kregg is something I’m definitely down for! Excited to see what his performance will bring to the character.
And now I’ve got a question: does this episode redeem Nolan? Personally, while I appreciate the fact that he was humbled and began saving lives, I still think he’s got a LONG road before he can be truly redeemed (and given what the Viltrumites plan to do with him, it’s hard to say). The man still killed thousands and still has a tinge of that Viltrumite mindset, even if he obviously is distraught seeing the people he grew to love killed.
