Depends on what website you are using I’m using story graph which allows users to not only rate the book but to add tags that can help people avoid triggers or chose better books for themselves based off topics. It also recommends by mood and I can set it to include or exclude certain genres. I also follow my favorite YouTuber mikes book reviews I trust his judgement and Im working through classic novels. I haven’t read anything written after I want to say 2008 in about three years.

i just want to say not everyone is a reader and while i do think all children need to read more forcing your children by reading allowed to them your favorite books and not something they are interested in will only cause friction and make them hate reading. Let your child pick a book that would interest them or even a audiobook, libraries still have audiobooks in them and most can be digital on a phone tablet or computer.

your 12 year old is only going to become more stubborn the more you force the issue. Give them a option like you can stay up later if you are reading or listening to a book instead of tv or video games.

Introduce them to the library and let them pick what they want.

Just because you love reading does not mean your children will too they are their own people with their own interests.

  • that depends, i like to start my day with reading, usually a hour, mostly fanfiction but i am straying more towards books these days im trying to finish my 50 book goal for the year. I would have more on the count if i wasnt reading fanfiction so much. I also read at night while working with my husband instead of tv or movies we do audiobooks, we just finished the abridged brave new world bbc narration yesterday 2 hours long just like a movie. I am in the middle of two other audiobooks currently and thinking of starting a third today. So for audiobooks 2-4 hours a day, for reading ebooks or fanfiction 1-3 hours probably. I sometimes read while i work on my own instead of with my husband.

  • some people dont like watching things multiple times and you shouldnt force yourself to do something you dont want to. I like to rewatch things for nostalgia mostly, some people dont really do nostalgia. Im currently rereading a series i read over 15 years ago, it feels the same but im the one who is different, i have different views, im older, i still love the series i can just articulate why better.

  • I have to say terribly Twilight 13 times, i reread it every time there was a new book coming out and i was kind of obsessed with the book as a preteen. My paperback copy literally fell apart one day.

For adult me Outlander i have at least 6 reads of since my first read at like 16. I only got through book 5 and every time i want to read more of the series i start totally over and never end up getting past 5.
