I think if Bojack reached out sooner, yeah. Herb even says so (because, and I quote, ‘I don’t care about the job! I did fine, I had a good life. But what I needed then, was a friend. And you abandoned me’).

I feel if Bojack could have reached out genuinely and been a friend to Herb, things would be different.

But…this is Bojack we are talking about.

Todd had every right to ban him.

Boundaries are important but they are never important to Bojack. Bojack sleeps in the bed he makes. His behaviour is the reason he was banned. If he was a better friend and person to Todd, and others, he wouldn’t be alone.

I don’t like him either. I find him annoying and most of his storylines pointless. Not all but most.

He never says ‘I love you’ really to anyone (except Wanda).

Bojack cannot express himself to family and I think it is a tall order to get him to admit he loves Hollyhock because of his upbringing. He comes by his dysfunction honestly.

He doesn’t get enough hate.
