DBSeamZ@alien.topBtoBooks•Do you buy books even if you've read them for free from friends/family/library?English

1 year agoThere’s always the chance that a library will discard the book for low readership, or that someone (maybe me, maybe someone else) will move and I won’t be in the same place as those friends, family members, or that library. So I like to have my own copies that I can keep with me.
I was too young to remember this, but my parents still laugh at the story of an extended family member giving me, a toddler, a bound copy of the US Constitution. I actually could read at the time, but that did NOT mean I was interested in a small book with zero pictures filled with big words in small text.
This family member has given really great and thoughtful gifts for as long as I can remember, so I have a hard time picturing this story happening, but according to my parents that incident was when he learned to find out what people want as gifts.
