  • This show has a lot of side characters that arr very purposeful and charming in their own ways. I think that’s pretty cool and it does show a lot of talent in character writing. I think my favorite example of a work with consistently great side/minor characters is Monster (anime). Not only are the characters well-written and memorable but it connects perfectly to the themes of the show, which is about how all life is meaningful and valuable. And if you wanna reinforce, you want more than just the main characters to matter to us.

  • I honestly think it’s a better silly to compare. Like yeah, Bojack Horseman is a better show but I feel that’s rather unfair to Tuca & Bertie and I think it presents a different and valuable perspective when it comes to dealing with all of these heavy subjects. I think Tuca and Bertie works more as more of a coping mechanism and comfort from those traumas and the ways that life can be heavy on people while Bojack Horseman is more focused on embracing the dark reality of it all in a way that reflects on that pain we suffer. I also think it does seem to take more of a liberty in its animation and general expression with its artstyle while Bojack Horseman is more meant to just look more like a typical adult animated sitcom. I also think Tuca and Bertie presents very nicely how people use humor and more optimistic thoughts to deal with the reality of their trauma. It also cares to personally focus more in ways women get hurt through sex, body image and their careers. and that’s pretty cool.

So in my opinion, I think Tuca and Bertie deserves love and that it is a great show in its own ways separate from Bojack Horseman. And idk, shows in general will hardly ever compare to Bojack Horseman but that doesn’t mean they’re not amazing in their own ways.
