    This show has a lot of side characters that arr very purposeful and charming in their own ways. I think that’s pretty cool and it does show a lot of talent in character writing. I think my favorite example of a work with consistently great side/minor characters is Monster (anime). Not only are the characters well-written and memorable but it connects perfectly to the themes of the show, which is about how all life is meaningful and valuable. And if you wanna reinforce, you want more than just the main characters to matter to us.

      Hell, yeah! Urasawa a is a master at that. The little man baking bread at the corner has some truths and has a story that’s interesting and could be it’s own anime.

      That bit is so funny but the whole exchange is one of my favorites in the series. Princess Carolyn confiding in someone she’s so jealous of takes so much strength and vulnerability, and I love how Gekko recognizes that. She not only listens to and supports her, but does so in a way perfect for PC (in terms of work). It’s a really sweet scene in my eyes and I love that she can both be catty and be there for her when it comes down to it.

      It’s legit insane how many side characters appeared in as few (or even fewer!) episodes. Paige Sinclair, Woodchuck, Courtney Portnoy, Sebastian St. Clair, Yolanda, Penny, Jill Pill, Cuddlywhiskers, Pete Repeat, Dr. Hu, Hank Hippopopalous, Vance Waggoner…list goes on and on

        This reminds me a lot of The Simpsons. It’s amazing how rich a world becomes when you invest in the smaller charters

        They had amazing side characters . Even the ones people don’t like as much (Yolanda and Katrina) I find hilarious and really well written

          The earlier Netflix shows have a better break as they were novel and Netflix had faith in them to attract return subscribers. Once they started adding more and more stuff just to pad out the library, they were more willing to cut things super early.

          To be fair the leads were all powerhouses and the story was good enough so they knew they could renew it until the show’s quality became worse
