  • For me, life is usually too unpredictable to have a strict time schedule reserved only for reading, therefore I read whenever I want. Usually it is maybe about an hour on a regular day. The number of pages however varies drastically. When I read poetry or non-fiction books, it might be that I only read two pages the whole day because I have difficulty in grasping it.

  • I’m a literature student and there are still (and probably always will be) countless instances where I really struggle even with its basic meaning, not to speak of more defined nuances. This is especially true of poems where I often find myself completely dumbstrucked. Nevertheless I try to focus on the appreciation of the work itself even though I might not have understood every single nuance. And the more you read, the more linkages and comparisons you can make which definitely improves your personal understanding.

It was the same for me. When I was younger I bought so many books I would never read or even attempt to read. But now I would say this is different. Nowadays I usually only buy a book when I finished the last one and then I start it right away. This requires a lot of self-discipline from my side every time I see a book store, but at least I don’t have dozens of sad books at home which will never be read.
