  • Yeah the first three seasons of Family Guy hold a special place in my heart and life. I used to stay up late to watch them on Adult Swim back in like 2002-2003. Those initial seasons (before they were cancelled and brought back for a 4th season) actually told stories and the characters weren’t one note vessels for jokes. The show has fallen so far, everyone is so mean spirited and there’s no characterization, Lois is the best example of this. She actually used to love her kids and act like a mother, now she’s just as mean as Peter is to Chris and Meg and basically hates her children. South Park definitely called out the show on its awful writing and it was so glorious to see it when it first happened.

  • I didn’t catch the first episode but I watched it as a 9 year old kid for the first time around like season 2. We immediately (my older brother and I) bought the VHS episodes that had the Matt and Trey fireside chats. It was unlike anything we’d ever seen at the time. It was before society had become desensitized to cuss words and offensive humor, so it truly felt like it was revolutionary and pushing major boundaries. Considering this was a time when The Simpsons was considered offensive and bad for the youth, South Park was on a whole other level.
