Especially considering the show makes it very clear your intentions don’t matter- unless you’re Todd for some reason

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend doesn’t deal with substance abuse at least not from the main character, but does deal with mental health and how it impacts your life. It is semi romanticized though and more of an “I understand” thing then the “there’s no excuse for this thing” than Bojack is- not as in it paints her actions as good but in the most spoiler free way possible I can say the main character gets forgiven for more things than she should and it is a musical if either of those things turn you off. I’d say it still overall is really good though
