Honestly, it just seemed like a really bad match on some levels because it seemed like Brandon expected to inherit the farm at some point. He seemed content with that lifestyle. Even if Julia accepted it for a while, she’d eventually be unhappy.

His parents are just conservative. I thought they had some mixed messages though with wanting them to be on birth control but expecting them to sleep apart.
