  • This is a rather dumb simple joke, but I laugh every time I see it or remember it:

Farmer: Oh, Don’t you worry about your friend. That chicken belongs to us now.Diane: Whoa! Where’d you get that gun?Farmer: You mean originally, or just now?Diane: Just now.Farmer: It was in that barrel.Irving: And what about originally?Farmer: Also that barrel.

The same episode has the memorable PB joke:" … I believe it was Benjamin Franklin who said: “You have reached the end of your free trial membership at Benjamin-Franklin-Quotes.com.”"

  • Not just the simple jokes. There are many controversies in this sub. Every minutia is evaluated according to strict legal standards or the purest of moral standards.

Example: the recurring trope that Ana Spanakopita sexually assaulted BoJack. True, one can make the case. But we are talking about BoJack, who is shown to enjoy carefree debauchery, including sex. There is no power imbalance between Ana and BoJack. So, in the context of this story, it is fair game. They are all unkind, selfish and inconsiderate and playing by the same rules.

Me too. BoJack is flawed, but the show is built around the premise that we see his perspective and don’t want him to fall and fail. Some of best shows on TV use this idea (Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Mad Men). Besides, at the time when Paige Sinclair starts her investigation, we see BoJack changing for the better and we don’t yet know all the details about what happened with Sarah Lynn.

But we all love Paige Sinclair. Of course we do, everybody loves Paige Sinclair.

  • One story that I found heartbreaking but not as tragic as most of the other plot lines: Princess Carolyn realizing that Bojack was indeed the love of her life and that she cannot let him fall. And most of us never get more than one love of our life, and BoJack was hers.

    Heartbreaking, yes. Tragic, a little.

Unpopular opinion: I assume that this sub sees the relationship between Bojack and PC as toxic because both of them are seen as “toxic” in their own way. But PC is not toxic. She knows what she wants, and always knew what she wanted. She is honest to herself to an extent that other characters are not. And she fell for BoJack and truly loved him, not because she wanted to help him, but because of genuine love.

    1. Don’t get a tattoo of something you are unsure you’ll like in 10 years.
    2. The quote does not work without the two parts. The first sentence is a reflection of life is all about pain and then it ends*, and the second sentence subverts this idea by reminding us that life is about pain, but you have to keep going. Two separate but linked ideas. The second part does not work without the first.
