Then, when Omniman dumps this huge responsibility, and his selfish mistakes onto him, he wants to disassociate and grow numb again, but can’t, since lives were at stake. It’s much more subtle abd heartbreaking imo. .

He flares into justified anger just as well. Then, with no time to process anything, he has to cycle through a very dizzying wheel of emotions as life changing revelation after revelation and more murder and more murder is heaped onto him again.
