Agreed. I absolutely do not understand the popularity of this book.

This would have been my pick. I read it for a book club, and it got absolutely eviscerated, to the point that I felt sorry for the person who nominated it - not that anyone was rude about it, but we clearly all hated it.

A lot of his humour works best when you read it to yourself in your head, the way you personally find it funniest. Hearing it delivered by someone else often makes it fall flat.
