I agree. She was laughable because she claims to be clairvoyant but didn’t see ANY OF THIS COMING. But I do take isolation and depression seriously and that relationship was not nurturing on his end. And perhaps it is cultural, but even if she spoke the language, I don’t think the MIL and the brother would warm up to her. Especially if Kim was unwilling or unable to fulfill whatever role was expected of her.

I taught high school Spanish, and imo Ashley has the skills of someone who has taken 4 years of Spanish. In a spontaneous conversation, she can get her point across but as others have stated on this thread, she doesn’t always use the right tense all the time. She avoids most complex verb phrasing. It is normal for someone who someone who didn’t take Spanish courses in college and for most people who use an app to learn the language. Apps don’t cover everything, of course. All of that considered, I do admire her fluency and confidence for sure.

I would most definitely need to hop back on duolingo at the very least. It’s been about 5 years since I invested time into learning. At the end of the day, it seems like having a native speaker partner to converse with would be the best thing for anyone to help them master it.

I had made such a comment and I was more referring to the customs regarding the wedding and homemaking, the rituals themselves, etc. She may have lived there but she did so as an American student/tourist. She didn’t likely come and stay studying the very things that she’s going through now as a wife. She obviously didn’t adopt the religion, or learn the language. So clearly living there wasn’t enough to prepare for actually being a citizen there.

I think it’s all made up for the show. She seems hellbent on forcing her sexuality and identity on everyone and is unapologetic about it. That seems more important than her relationship with Igor. And it’s definitely more important than having compassion for the people she lied to for years.

My understanding is that she has really severe TMJ and that’s why she can barely move her jaw when she talks. She did a whole post about it because people trolled her so badly. I feel bad for her.
