only way he stops recovering is if his head is removed from his body.

he basically has the same kinda regeneration as Wolverine without the adamantium skeleton that keeps him from being decaptitated.

course considering how durable he is, its possible that gun had no acutal effect. was basically him ‘retiring’ in a dramatic fashion.

He’d be a massive asshole for letting Andrew Johnson take the reins.

The man let Reconstruction fall apart and the progress of black people getting equal rights be held back decades because he wanted to move onto a new persona.

I wonder if that implies that John Wilkes Booth (an actor) was in on the ruse, or just that it happened to be good timing for The Immortal?

It was just a gunshot. Realistically speaking, it wouldn’t have incapacitated him for that long. But because superhumans likely weren’t public at that time, Abraham Lincoln had to disappear.

The real Lincoln lived for several hours after the shot too. So it’s not like a head kaboom situation

    Comic spoilers:

This didn’t hurt him, it was just too public for him to brush off as nothing happening.

The first time the Immortal took enough damage to actually die was when he met a traitorous Viltrumite. Human weapons of the time (and even in the future, we find out later) cannot kill the Immortal.

If I kinda assumed he just didn’t die here. I mean I get he can regen, but like, if his weakness was just getting shot in the head, then anyone on earth would’ve already beaten him.
