I was horrified by the cow urine disinfecting scene at TJ’s house…Then, I did some research and was surprised to find out cow urine has a lot of antiseptic properties. There are legit NIH studies on the topic. Apparently cow urine has been used for centuries to disinfect, and it has Ayurvedic healing properties. Not saying I’m going to use it, but…educated.

As much as I hate Kim, I’m on her side here. I understand India’s obsession with cows, but this is disgusting.

How did she live in that house for an entire year and only see this for the first time, is my question?

Just a reminder that papers stored on the NIH website don’t necessarily reflect their views.

I’m with Kim and with the cow shit in the house.

Dung patties have lots of uses. Would I? No. Do I judge other cultures because they are doing it differently than I? No.

theres cow urine factories. This kind of stuff has gotten increasingly popular since the Hindu nationalist party got elected and promoting hindu traditions like this. Some politicians even said drinking it would keep covid away.

Not all of India is Hindu though and its mainly them who buy from cow urine factories and cow dung factories

I feel like yash was trying to keep it semi mutual by telling her just a few drops. I bet her did it more sparingly than what he does in his area downstairs because he understand the cultural differences

Note, some regions in India apparently do use cow waste for a million reasons. I’m all for cultural differences - it’s essential, but some reports are linking the burning and general lack of hygiene when using it (fuel, manure, etc) to their black fungus epidemic.

There was also a wave of rumors that bathing in either kind of the waste would cure and prevent COVID.

Premarin is made from the urine of pregnant horses. But like you don’t just get a filthy bottle straight from the cow like he had. That’s a great way to get all kinds of bacterial infections. Sprinkling a bit by the door ain’t gonna disinfect your house. Can we send some Pine Sol. There are people over there who drink it. If it cured all these illnesses you would expect they would live longer.

I think respect needs to go both ways in that house. Some compromises. Kim was fine with most of their traditions… except the disgusting, outdated ritual of flinging cow urine on doors.
