I’m sure some are already aware of this, but please do not assume that all Indian families are like TJ’s. Wiping a pan with a cloth that was previously used for wiping cow dung is considered filthy, disgusting, and unhygienic by all Hindus I know including my own family. Don’t get me wrong, there are some families in specific castes who may do this because they’re still living in the fourth century, but the majority definitely, definitely don’t. One of my old coworkers would always make fun of India and asked me if I drink cow urine. I was so offended by this and furious with him for asking me such a disrespectful question, but after watching this episode and the awful way they represent India, I realized he asked because he must’ve been watching something similar. Seriously, please don’t assume that all or even any Indians commit practices like this 🤦‍♀️

TJ’s family doesn’t exactly come from money

    Thank you for posting this.

I am also Indian(-American but have spent years in India), and can confirm that TJ’s family is extreme and very, very religious.

I don’t even know any religious Hindus who follow the onion/garlic rule unless it’s literally a holiday (I mean, look up most Indian food which includes copious amounts of both those ingredients!), let alone doing anything with cow urine.

100%. I had heard the cow dung/urine reference from my coworker but never heard of anyone avoiding garlic and onion. Anyone practicing that would have to throw out a lot of our dishes. The show’s doing everything to make India look like trash

I was just wondering where he got the bottle full of cow pee from? Did he hold it under a cow himself or buy it? Where do people store their cow urine and poop usually? Not in the fridge surely. I had never heard of any of this before.

Yet, garlic & onions are forbidden in their kitchen? I’d be on the first plane ✈️ leaving that awful situation & family

Thank you for the synopsis. I think in any culture what the family does. The cow manure in the cloth is disgusting and unsanitary TJ do not tell Kimberly this on purpose because she would never married him and probably would go back with her family. Personally, I don’t care how much I love a man I would never put up with that family or their customs.

By the look of her insufferable Instagram, she’s already back with her family and belligerently defensive about this very poorly planned marriage

I haven’t seen this episode yet. Cow poop smells dreadful. They were using it in kitchen? Wtf? How unsanitary. Did they disinfect or leave the poop there? If a man told me or I was shown cleaning with poop, I would be outta there asap!

Thank you! I knew it wasn’t normal.

I hate that they showed this! It really seems like Matt Sharp productions is determined to show certain countries in a terrible light, especially South Africa and India

Thanks for sharing. One of the more annoying things is the likely non-Indian stupid American Kimberly haters going “she should have rEsUrChEd!!! She’s so terrible for hating on cow shit and piss being spread around the home!!!” Like I’m not even kidding about that lol I don’t like Kimberly but any single human should be upset by that. Stop pretending it’s culturally normal.

I legit don’t think she could even research some of this stuff there’s so many different castes and groups it’s not like someone in a community of 100 people is online writing blog posts about cow poop

Agreed. I don’t know how one is supposed to research this. 😕

Kimberly isn’t an angel, but TJ hid a lot from her and that is the biggest faux pas here. A majority of people would not be impressed with cow dung and pee being in their kitchen. This family is whacked out thinking it’s okay to flick cow pee everywhere, but cannot allow garlic to be in the kitchen. Wtf.

I had to look it up when Yash said it was anti-microbial. It is - but that’s still really gross because there are plenty of other anti-microbials that are not cow pee that you can clean with and putting a few drops on every threshold is not going to reduce germs in any meaningful way.

I’ve said so many times that it shouldn’t have been all on Kimberly to research. India is a large country with a massive population, and there’s no way she could have figured out all of TJ’s specific family customs by Googling. TJ should have prepared Kimberly on what to expect.

I wouldn’t expect someone to know what we do in my American household by Googling.

This is highly unusual for even Hindu Indians and anyone who is actually Indian would know that. Other than Jains (which TJ is not), no one avoids onion and garlic — evidence: just look up ingredients for the most popular Indian dishes — unless it’s a religious holiday or something. And no one is bringing poop, cow or otherwise, into their home like that.

The problem here “could” be his and his family, but my money is on production. Once you sign on the dotted line, you all but give up your soul. The only way to fight it is for everyone to shut the crap show off.

Truth be told, anyone who would take this as reality is really not an intelligent person.

I feel like a lot of India gets lost in the mix. It’s one of the cradles of civilization…Americans have a really terrible habit of using our own ruler to measure what “normal” looks like. Admittedly, the cow dung/urine thing is was not my thing but I also eat KFC so I can’t say anything.
