Set her past mistakes aside, and this lady has been a great mom to Brandon this entire journey. Her concerns in the beginning were more than valid, she flew all the way out to them to be at the wedding, she offered an olive branch and her genuine heart to Mary, she was chill about munching on frogs, and she got real with Brandon when she saw him being in the wrong against Mary.

Honestly, she’s a real one.

She shines with good sense. Whatever her probs were, she has made a comeback, I only wish Mary had run her ‘vows’ by Angela --’ I know we fighting so much but anyways…’

Mary started out sooooo sour and then soon was saying “I appreciate your advice. No one had ever given me advice.”

I think she is a great mom.

I wish she was my mom in law. My MIL is so entitled i can’t talk with her about anything. I like how she listened to Mary and helped her with Brandon, when i talked with my MIL she complained about it to my husband, basically saying tell your wife to f*ck off from me.

I am so happy to see the mom being so great! I was hating the comments being so negative against her just because she had a difficult past. I think her scenes really show her humanity and the reality that we can all move forward and do our best day by day!

I thought she was incredibly kind and empathetic to Mary. She told of her concerns for their age and that they’ll have to work at it but also that she knows Mary will be a good mother.

You have to also remember Mary doesn’t have a mom and has said that “everyone leaves her”…she and Branden bonded over parental trauma but seeing how his mom has come back and is trying to be a better parent seems to have softened her a bit. She sees it’s possible for ppl to change and she probably just really needs a mom…Mary needed this conversation badly. I have def not been a fan of either of them but I see the changes and hope they stick

There’s an episode where he talks about the details of his family. I can’t remember but it sounds like he was in his early teens and was caring for her other children but then that all broke up and the young ones were cared for elsewhere and Brandan was adrift.

Because she became an addict and eventually child protective services came and removed Brandon and his siblings from her house. Now years later she is clean and trying to rebuild the relationship

It’s also sweet to see how Mary was so receptive to her love as well and acknowledging how much she needs it.

She’s proof that you don’t have to be defined by your past mistakes. So many people stay in the addiction spiral because they hate themselves so much and it helps numb the self loathing. The ones who get out are the ones who can look in the mirror and just try to better everyday for the loved ones they hurt.

yes yes yes. I’m tooting my own horn because I deserve to. coming up on five years sober and waking up every morning ready to prove to everyone I’m not the monster I used to be is a high in of itself. Especially when the haters see it. I’ve found that recovered addicts tend to be strong, disciplined, empathetic people. And it was in there all along but covered up by whatever was clouding the mirror.

Yeah I was super impressed with how she spoke to a Mary in the church. She did not act biased in Brandans favor and actually listened to Marys concerns.

I think Mary’s expression of gratefulness for her motherly advice is what made her change her mind about her. I really like this lady

Ok but someone really needs to tell them that not working and living in a small village is only ok if you have a way to make a living & provide for yourself and your family. They both speak English- wouldn’t it make way more sense for them to move to the US so they could both work?

They spent the prospective visa sponsorship money on the house, I think. or else maybe that would have been a possibility.

yeah, that’s what makes me really sad. I know Mary probably wants to be there for her grandparents but honestly it would make more sense for them to have saved up for her visa, started the process, and gone from there. the house was like 60k iirc and that’s actually around what the entire process with flights and such would cost when all is said and done (factor in relocation costs too). and by that point it would be about three years into the future so they’d both be more mature and maybe Mary could have even gone back to school with the money Brandan could have saved living with family (I believe he could move back in with his godparents at the very least). I’m really sad they’re both so traumatized and therefore impulsive when someone shows them love and loyalty.

Also - I keep seeing online that they got fired off the show for going live and talking about the show before it could air (Breaking the NDA). So what the hell are they going to do now? And where does Mary get all these cell phones to sell? I’m wondering if they are stolen off tourists in the cities.
