Do Trey Parker and Matt Stone have have their fingers on the pulse of the culture war or what?! I loved this!

Best thing Paramount ever did was acquiring South Park! It’s streaming service is 10 bucks a month I have no problem paying!

Does anyone know if when SP goes exclusively to Paramount, if they’re taking the HBO covid special?

I just liked how they made even more fun about the people constantly being enraged about it, then the actual executives.

I love it when they make fun of these social conservatives that give a fuck about this unimportant bullshit and people run with it like they’re agreeing with them

Just watched this, and cackled my ass off. There’s so many layers to this and subplots but it ties together all so nicely. Freakin hilarious. Trey and Matt are geniuses.

I haven’t seen the special yet but why people have it so much against Cartman? Is the sub being raided? Or he does some pretty evil/stupid/lame things in the special that I will understand when I see it?

When they address topics like this, they give arguments from both sides. Sometimes, they choose the best argument from one side. Sometimes, they choose the worst. But either way, at least people get to hear both.

        I don’t think so.

The message is that diversity is good, but forced inclusion and pandering is both bad and lazy.

South Park had the balls to have gay characters on in the first season, not to pander but as a core part of the episode. And it’s also mentioned that there’s a difference between making Miles Morales, a separate character with his own personality and backstory, and racebending an existing character.

The whole point of Cartman is to give racists and sexists a voice so they feel represented. This way South Park can appeal to BOTH racists/sexists AND people who aesthetically oppose them. This tactic goes back to All In the Family from the 70’s. Conservatives LOVED him and liberals hated him. Both watched the show because both thought the show was on their side.

Loved how it made fun of both sides. How the people who are always botching about things being “Woke” need are usually just being assholes, but that Hollywood just switching out known and loved characters with different races just so they can meet some sort of quota of diversity is just lazy as fuck pandering.

I would say not every instant is just pandering. Wouldn’t keeping everything white makes still just be pandering to the insecure pieces of shit they are?

Pandering happens regardless, that’s what people aren’t getting.

Most of these characters are only what they are due to (wait for it) pandering. Pandering to the white males who could buy the shit. Wouldn’t see a black captain America when segregation was still a thing. It isn’t based on some sort of creative intent. It was made to pander to white dudes from the very beginning.

If changing up some characters helps other folks feel represented in a way that white dudes have had forever, then I’m cool with it. Even if the studio intent is “pandering” it doesn’t change the outcome of representation which is important.

Are you stupid? You realize South Park was one of the first shows to show gay characters and say accept them for being gay so what it doesn’t matter. And that it wasn’t a pandering issue it was be a decent human issue.

And that the Tolkien Black kid, wasn’t stereotypical dumb and poor and from a broken household but instead smart and rich and from a loving two parent household.

You’re really upset that South Park is pointing how the constant pandering IS ruining television and movies. Pandering for the sake of Pandering IS lazy, tactless, and not though provoking in any way. You’re just happy it’s cartman doing all the complaining.

I think people are treating this like too much of a binary.

They do literally call the thing Kennedy uses “the Pander Stone” and they clearly don’t care for the Sequel Trilogy.

But on the other hand, Eric Cartman is the one voicing these criticisms. And he admits to writing thousands of pieces of hate mail every day.
