Exactly! I’ve seen some people saying Nolan didn’t intervine because of BB, which is a fair assumption, but it’s not entirely true. Nolan wanted to show Mark that he should’ve listened to him when he advised against getting involved. At that point, he was still planning on having Mark by his side, and he needed him to see what happens when he doesn’t listen to him.
When he referred to her as his “pet,” he meant it in comparison to their lifespan, as humans live much longer than their animal companions. Also, he comes from a supremacist culture, so he views all non-viltrumites as a lesser being.
