When most ppl ask “What’s a show like Bojack” I think of a comedy that perfectly handled mature and dark themes in a somber yet still hilarious way. For a while the only solid suggestion was Fleabag. (I would personally add ‘The Other Two’ to that list, as it’s brilliantly hilarious and, like Bojack, is very industry and Hollywood themed, but also addresses situations related to getting what you truly want and still not being happy, and perhaps questioning happiness.)

So, for some ppl “a show like Bojack” would specifically mean a show about handling the existential questions in life but spoken in a fun and readable way.

For others, “a show like Bojack” means just a hilarious show that has a lot of running gags and connects the jokes in a comedically brilliant and usually clever way. For this, I would say Arrested Development and Community 100% fit the bill. I would also add Futurama, what we do in the shadows, The Good Place, maybe Schitts Creek and few other sitcoms

For OP, I believe they are specifically talking about the aspect of setting bread crumbs and intentional foreshadowing when they talk about “shows like Bojack”. The comments have listed a lot of them, but it seems like you’re going for very Slow Burn and character driven shows, so Succession, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Barry, The Wire, maybe you’d like White Lotus.

I gotta be honest tho, none of those strike me as ‘Bojack-like’ at all. I don’t think Bojack is the type of show that set intentional foreshadowing traps beyond a season. I think they went back and rewatched and thought of great call backs like bringing back “don’t stop dancing”, but I dont think watching Bojack Horseman feels anything similar to watching shows like Breaking Bad or Severance
