  • I loved getting to see what happened to Nolan in-between Earth and Thraxia and his depression arc. It made it feel more genuine. Also how funny that he also saved Oliver’s mom like he saved Debbie.

They adapted the hug well but also included Mark being way more conflicted about everything, which felt more natural and also made when he realized Nolan had changed and helped his father understand he’d gained empathy all the more powerful.

They adapted the kiss panel! Actually some of the fight scenes seemed ripped from actual comic fights.

Oliver is an adorable baby. I can’t wait to see cartoon-only fans get to see him when he’s such a brat.

I like how Eve’s first instinct was to text Mark to talk to him and just happened to run into Amber and William. Their friendship does feel more genuine here. Also Eve’s reaction when Amber said “he’s lucky he’s cute” was like an affirmative “YEAH, he’s cute.”

I love getting a Donald sub-plot where he finds out he’s part cyborg now.

Wow, they did the whole Mauler Twin thing in one episode.

No montage of Amber struggling with Mark’s absence, huh?

Phil LaMaar as Lucan, awesome, though Lucan did put on some pounds here. I guess all the better for his guts to spew out.

Developing Mark’s willingness to kill where releasing himself more helps him be a better fighter, and he actually holds his own better but that’ll end up coming back to bite him against Angstrom because he’ll be used to fighting Viltrumites.

Art! Man it was nice to see him. I wonder if this “what was the real Nolan?” will carry on when they finally reunite.

Thula is totally going walk that off, right? Right?

I wonder where they’re going with this new version of Eve’s storyline. She moved in with her parents before she got together with Mark, unlike in the comic, and she’s in a much more vulnerable and depressed state now than she was in the comics (really the most depressed she was over Mark and Amber being together). I wonder if Mark and Eve are going to bond over their mutual issues and support each other through this and that’s how they fall deeper in love this time.

Debbie cutting off Cecil felt more powerful here. I do wonder how she’ll react to Oliver now.

“Read my books Mark” - Man, they really made it obvious Nolan based his adventures off his own life, complete with him legit being on the cover. And teasing Space Racer and the creatures. Too bad Debbie gave away the books, but Mark will read them from Art anyways.

I love how they brought Clancy Brown back as Kregg (whose name I now know how to pronounce). I hope we get the scene of him addressing all his lovers.

  • Mark finally winning! Nice rematch with Doc Seismic.

Reginald VelJohnson did the title drop!

Mark is torn between focusing on being a hero while still having a life outside of that, giving up a lot of his direction towards Cecil whom he sees as someone who can keep him on the straight and narrow and focused on doing good and not being his dad (even if we’re slowly seeing Mark and Cecil have different moral values when the chips are down). And it’s making Mark have to balance being Invincible with being Mark Grayson.

Mark Grayson, good boyfriend! Honestly I thought he was totally going to forget to take her back to work.

Immortal pulled a Rex on Rex. And Kate seems happier.

Poor Eve. I mean, her dad is still a dick but her powers are kind of a cheat code that she probably shouldn’t have used as willy nilly when she’s still ultimately a teenager and not always qualified to be putting the stuff together that she has. She means well (just like Mark) but maybe extended herself a bit too far. Be interesting to see if this makes her hold back or transition to normal Superheroics again.

Poor Debbie. Just…poor Debbie. I also felt bad for that woman, she is not in a good relationship.

Is this the season of gender-flips? FemaleI love how we have Donald sub-plots and even kinda sorta Lizard League sub-plots.

Tatiana Malsany’s got range. Cecil and Donald got me feeling something. Will we end up with female Mark by the end of this.

  • I like how they had Darkwing and Aquarius’ death in the previously on because we got follow ups for them here.

I’m glad we got to have Reginald Veljohnson deliver the graduation ceremony speech. Will he follow Mark to college? Well, at least he got to do the title drop.

    I missed show!William.

The ongoing saga of Doc Seismic! Now he’s got his Magma goons. I guess we won’t see him again until the Invincible vs Cecil arc.

Nice introduction to Shapesmith. It’s kind of fun hearing Ben Schwartz not play a really snarky and cocky guy, instead someone sincere but also goofy because he’s secretly an alien.

I was honestly expecting them to pan to Eve being bummed at Mark and Amber kissing at the graduation. Honestly wonder how they’re going to handle the relationship transition, especially when Eve beat up over Mark. I wonder if it will tie-in to her new storyline over what to do with her powers? And things are going swimmingly with Amber so far.

Speaking of, I’m curious where they’re going with Eve now. Obviously she’s learning there’s only so much she can fix with her powers and she might need to set herself limits, though how this will develop into later stage Eve should be interesting. I guess this will make her take a step back.

I was wondering if they’d build up Immortal and Kate, but no immediate shower fivesome. I almost feel bad for Rex.

I had a feeling they’d use some post-Omni Man stories this season to finally give Mark some wins.

I didn’t expect them to turn what happened to Donald into a sub-plot. Or that he didn’t know he died.

Like the set up of Debbie vs Cecil and them arguing over what’s best for Mark. Debbie is Mark’s mom and Mark is looking to Cecil for direction and a moral compass, but while it seems like Cecil means well there’s a part of him that is using Mark.

Giving the Guardians one win against the Lizard League (and setting up how everyone sees them as a joke) before we get the slaughter later in the season courtesy of King Lizard. Supreme Lizard was totally Serpentor with a mustache.

The irony that Mark’s future father-in-law also worked at Burger Mart.

I was wondering if they would do the Atlantis story. Interesting twist, though I kind of miss Mark playing secret wingman to hook that dude up with the queen.

    Poor Debbie. Just…poor Debbie.

Nice buildup with Angstrom visiting worlds where they actually beat Mark to find out ways to kill him. Didn’t expect female Cecil and Donald. Also Donald’s hair. They can’t keep giving us these gender-flips and not give us at least one female Mark, right?
