They (production) want a “Rich UK Princess falls in love with broke American boy” riches to rags story and to show that she leaves everything she had - a very luxurious, easy life - to live in an illegal garage semi-reno riddled with roaches and rats and gun spray on the regular, because she honestly loves him and if you have love, nothing else is necessary - even a toilet in the house in LA, in 2023.
