  • I think they would have made up if it werent for the cancer. Herb felt as though Bojack only came to see him because he felt guilty that herb would die without their relationship getting closure. Which is definitely true. But herb thinks Bojack abandoned him, and what I think is more likely is that Bojack is so used to people rejecting/mistreating him for thr most minor infractions, he assumed Herb would be the same. He thought herb wouldn’t want to be his friend because hed be angry, so he avoided him out of respect or even awkwardness. Which is honestly a fair assessment. Bojack just didn’t understand that he was sad everyone abandoned him, not because he lost his job, but even so, Bojack thought it was about the job. But I think this would have come out sooner had they met before the cancer.

You are correct that bojack never TRIED to have sex with Penny. However, when she tried to have sex with him, he didn’t do anything to stop it. Both actions are equally bad, but they’re two separate actions. He is not a pedophile since he doesn’t actively seek out children (him liking 20-30 year old women while he’s 50+ is a bit racy, but it still isn’t pedophilia). However, Penny was TOO young; the only reason he went along with it was because he was just got his heart broken and was probably suffering the brunt of his many mental illnesses at that time, which made his sense of judgement even more useless than usual. Otherwise, under normal circumstances, children repulse him. So in his mind, he knows he was powerless in the situation and would likely never have stopped if Charlotte hadn’t arrived. The guilt of this warped his view of what happened, so he blames himself for every part of it, even Penny coming onto him, and even though nothing happened. Part of his illnesses cause him to self-sabotage, so instead of seeking help or trying to understand what happened, he just labels himself as an evil person that cant be fixed because it’s easier to process, hence him always saying he tried to have sex with her, which isn’t actually what happened. By extension, in the eyes of the law, “I almost let a teenager have sex with me” is exactly the same as “I tried to have sex with a teenager”; regardless of who came on to who, he is at fault both legally and morally

  • No. He was high like her, and he also thought she was dead. He was likely in shock and feeling guilty and just trying to process what happened while on heroin. Its really hard to do ANYTHING on heroin, much less make good decisions and effectively help. He was traumatized by the event, despite being at fault. Part of him waiting wasn’t just saving face, it was him deciding what to do/how to handle the situation. In the show, under ANY sort of pressure, Bojack has a panic attack/breakdown, which is probably what he did immediately. Also, his reasons for actually saving face may not have been just about his career. He relies on validation from others to literally stay alive, he can’t do it himself. He’d probably succumb to his depression if everyone started hating him, so him pretending he wasn’t there was could have been self preservation. That’s just speculation though. Either way, it just makes me feel horribly bad for Bojack, not hate him. It makes me want him to get better and go back to therapy because of the unimaginable pain he must have been feeling through that ordeal. Unbroken people don’t do things like that. And again, it’s not reflective of his true intentions because heroin is so debilitating. It may have taken him 17 minutes to stop panicking and get to his car
