I think he’s written a bit simplistically and predictably like a bad 80s movie bad dad. There’s very little nuance. And most dads would be thrilled their kids were geniuses and not be annoyed they can go to a gifted school.

We all hate him, most of us know someone like him IRL. Which is likely why for many of us he seems like the worst and most horrible character in the show

He is a total dick but he has a point that Eve has gotten into a bad habit of just doing whatever she wants without thinking about the consequences.

Drought, Fire, Floods are all terrible disasters but natural disasters are part of the normal flow of nature.

Instead of stopping a flood from taking out a town, maybe build the outside of the flood plane. Eve is only a High School Graduate at this point. She may have an inherent understanding of Chemistry and Physics but she needs to study Architecture, City Planning, Logistics, Farming, Geography, Metrology, Climate Science. Now we have seen that she can turn objects into Gold, meaning she could flood the market with precious metals and destabilize the Economy (which honestly isn’t very stable to begin with).

Central banks already print money at will whenever it suits their purposes and destabilize the economy on a regular basis for it; the only change here is that normal people might actually benefit from Eve’s intervention.

I hate it in the show because it stinks of a sort of status quo brainwashing. Like yeah, it’s not good to build stuff yourself if you don’t know anything about construction, but surely that’s a minor stumbling block, not a reason to never build for free ever again.

Adam Wilkins shows up 7 times in the comics according to the wiki, and despite his short appearance, he is memorably cringe. Never crosses the threshold into abusive, but just cringe and sexist.

This panel comes to mind (Rex spoiler):

What exactly was Adam and Betsy’s fates in comics I’m assuming they grew old and died and are not with Samantha and Mark in the finale , al though Betsy seems nice and tolerable and the only who actually has a positive relationship with Sam so I can kinda see Sam trying to save her mother from death either by making her immortal or just be delaying her aging so she would age much slower

You’re lucky dad asked me to do something just I just finished reading, or I would’ve asked for a replacement screen.

I Kinda want him to get executed similar to how the guardians were in the first episode. A bit extreme yes but fuuuuck that guy. Just not in front of Eve or anything like that she needs to catch a break already

He made the Eve stand alone episode nearly unwatchable for me. Like they have this miracle baby they thought was dead, then she’s ever so slightly strange and so his immediate reaction is to hate her and treat her like crap. Like her mother goes “maybe she’s smart” and his immediate response is too go, “nope that can’t be it!”

It would have been more effective to show him trying to force her to interact with other kids and fail or something, but instead he just gets angry at her over and over for basically nothing. His motivation is so ridiculous it doesn’t feel remotely real to me.

I feel like he doesn’t deserve a happy ending, this is one of those instances where if his character ends up dying for some reason, that he and Eve never repair they’re relationship. I think they’re relationship is beyond repair and I hope Eve gives it to him one day, and admits how much she hates him.

You’re supposed to hate him. Honestly they make him too “on the nose” to hate him. He has a bit more depth here than in comics which is good. In comics he gets almost no depth until near the end.

If Eve gets past her mental block, she should turn his insides into spaghetti.

This is not a reference to anything…
