Subtitle writers make almost no money and have to go through a show really fast. There’s no requirement for any subject matter expertise nor language info provided. It’s probably the subtitle editor not speaking either, and just googling what language they speak in Moldova (knowing his nationality) which is Romanian.

I’ve watched a lot of anime back in the day and the subtitles made me laugh out loud they were so bad. Not all languages translate well.
No computer would confuse Slavic Russian for Latin Romanian though.

You can’t google translate your way out of a language like Russian, it’s very context based and has some intense grammar
