I remember reading Invincible in high school and watching fan films about the comic, it’s so insane to see it so popular now. Omni Man in Mortal Kombat 1, Mark, Eve and Nolan in Fortnite.

Just wanted to take a second I guess to point out how lucky we are that we’re getting a really faithful adaptation, when the show got annouced, I thought it was gonna be stuck in development hell like the movie that was annouced ages ago.

    My Dad couldn’t really wrap his head around the fact that there are comic franchises other than Marvel or DC.

      Did he read Archie comics as a kid? because that’s a comic book franchise that’s been around for decades. Disney has also been publishing comic books since the 1940s, but they are more popular outside of the US.

      TMNT, Walking Dead, Tales from the Crypt, 300, Hellboy, The Crow, Judge Dredd, and The Mask are all based off comics that are not Marvel or DC. He has to have seen one of those, even if he’s never read the comics.

    If you think about it it was meant to happen.

    With a movie or two every year, plus DC comics trying to emulate them, Marvel kinda makes an overdose regarding classic superhero media.

    The boys got immediatly popular due to its fresh take on supes, so it was only a matter of time before Amazon tried to retaliate with Invincible.

    I mean they kind of released the show in the perfect time. People are tired of “lighthearted” superhero stuff I guess. Now, people want more stakes in their movies or TV shows. It’s probably the reason it’s doing so well. It feels “different” or something like that.

    As someone who got into the fandom when the show dropped in 2021, I couldn’t believe that I never heard of this series before despite knowing who Kirkman was.

    Came across this comic during COVID, when I was working, but business was slow so I had some downtime to kill.

    Other then a few small elements of the series I didn’t like, the series as a whole was quite enjoyable.

    Why Invincible is popular now? I can only assume, but with DC and Marvel dominating the board for so long, and both franchises starting their slow decline, people are looking elsewhere for their superhero entertainment. Thus enter The Boys Universe and the Invincible Universe. Personally, I think diversity in such a genre is in fact a good thing.

    Ive been so over pretty much TV in general same with movies,have only really been gaming the last few years since most shows and movies feel so half assed and shitty that I just stopped.I gave up on marvel after Endgame pretty much. I had heard Invincible was great but put it off for a long time since like I said I just wasnt watching anything really. About a month ago I said fuck it and checked out the first episode and ended up watching the whole season in one day. Its so amazing, that first watch kinda made me feel nostalgic for when I was a kid watching the 90s xmen cartoon you know only with the violence turned way up lol

    Going to dive into the comics soon,was going to wait til after season two but knowing its split up and not knowing when the 2nd half airs I might have to sooner

    The only complaint I have is that they always use those 3 characters. I personally want them to use some other characters as well. I understand why Mark and Nolan are there. They are the faces of the franchise, but Eve is always included and for a good reason. She is a great character, but it’s kind of weird including her as a skin in everything considering she has a pretty ugly superhero costume in my opinon. Like I love all the outfits in the franchise, but she is a contender for the worst one. Just a little rant though coming from a guy who wants to see the likes of Battle Beast, Immortal, Rex Splode, Robot and others a little more.

    We have been in a comic boom for awhile as far as adaptations. Plus all these streaming services have just created way more space for less mainstream stuff to shine. It is a wonderful age.
