Gino is a cheating douchebag like Rob.
I consider myself attractive and I don’t like good looking guys either (Never have). I go for men that are good hearted and nice and that are different than other men but pretty eyes are nice to look at and would keep me satisfied.
Right … I thought people would have seen / remembered this excerpt of her interview but it seems many missed it. It’s not in the clip but she explains that the reason she likes unattractive men is, she is a very jealous person and doesn’t want to compete with other women. This implies, looks matter a great deal to her and if she was less jealous / insecure, she would go for attractive men. ie her preference is not based on thinking that heart / personality outweighs outside appearance
It’s really unkind to talk about anyone you care about that way. It’s not funny, not cute. Everyone has feelings. If someone described me that way I would never recover from it. Why can’t she just say I know Gino is not a male model but I find him very attractive and adorable and love him the way he is. Everyone knows what they really look like (well, most) and nobody wants the cold hard truth thrown in their face. We all deal with our own insecurities looking in the mirror alone, who needs public validation of it for Christ’s sake.

She likes men desperate enough to put up with all her verbal and emotional abuse.
I’ve wondered if this is what she means when calling Gino her “soulmate”. No matter how cruel or insulting she gets, he never leaves. He might be the only one up to now…

If you’re like me & have spent many hungover Sunday mornings watching Golden Girls reruns then you might be able to relate to what this situation reminds me of. The episode where Dorothy dates Eddie. An odd, short, bald, plain looking guy with a little belly & like Gino a weak sounding voice. The only big difference is that he’s older. Doriothy becomes unexplainably obsessed with him. Her roommates can’t understand it until they all get fed up at the end trying to dump him for her, but one by one become instantly infatuated with him one by one themselves lol. What’s F’d up about this though isn’t so much that she’s attracted to Gino for being typically considered not attractive. It’s that she feels this way because she is so painfully insecure & triggered with such mind boggling jealousy of her partners that she feels an “ugly” (her words in another episode) guy is less likely to cheat or to trigger her. Though clearly even with Gino it doesn’t seem to be working.
She feels more secure with someone she finds physically unattractive, hoping that other women will too and therefore the risk of cheating is lower.
Unfortunately her logic is flawed here, and unattractive men are not less likely to cheat than attractive men, so she has selected a mate she is not physically attracted to for no benefit.
I think she also said she likes them that way because she doesn’t have to worry about anyone else wanting them
Yes!!! She did say that! She said she likes them a certain way because she doesn’t have to worry about being cheated on. I guess she changed her ways after her last relationship with the guy that lives in the same apartment she did. I can’t remember his name.
Therefore, Jasmine will date men that she can control. She wants to be sure she is the superior one in the relationship. She thinks if the guy she is with is not all that then she doesn’t have to worry about being cheated on…but it’s sad to say…no matter who you are and who you are with…there is always a chance it will happen regardless of looks.
I guess that means I have a chance if she ever actually dumps Geeno.
She isn’t good looking either so no surprise.
