First of all, she first said that she would be supportive of his financial situation and said she was empathetic of his setbacks. She even said it was frustrating when Wayne keeps everything inside. And then, the second he lets her in and tells her that he made a mistake (he admitted it was stupid) by investing $2000 USD into crypto, she gets disproportionately angry about it and storms off, telling him that he doesn’t understand the severity of this.

All that did was ensure that Wayne keeps everything inside going forward and never shares anything with her again.

$2000 as a bad investment is peanuts in the scheme of things. You’d think he lost 6 figures the way she was acting lol

It’s easy to be supportive of a financial situation when it’s going well…the real test is when it’s not.

I think she thought they’d get married and then they would move house to a safer location. Unfortunately Wayne’s financial situation changed in that time and moving wasn’t a viable option for the foreseeable future. A vacation is also a lot different from living somewhere. When her mum left and Wayne was working to recovery his loses she was spending more time alone in the house.

I absolutely agree about Holly but wasn’t it something like $40,000 in crypto? I haven’t seen any recent episodes so I may have missed something.

Also, the way he talked about his crypto investment, it sounds like there’s something a bit shady about it - whether he realizes that or not. I wonder if he “invested” in a scam of some sort.

So that was an African money, but in US dollars, it’s just 2000. 2000 is nothing these days, I am extremely poor and it’s about what I make in a month. If I lost 2000, I would be pretty sad, if I told my fiancé about it, she would be sad for me. She would never get mad at me like that. And if she did, I wouldn’t feel comfortable telling her anything. Already, as it is, I feel societies pressure to be this big, strong guy. I feel so bad for Wayne, because society expects all guys to be stoic and not expressed their emotions, yet Holly is allowed to be an emotional roller coaster. I just watched the scene where she was at her wedding. And she said extremely high expectations for it to be some fairytale, and then, when normal regular life things were happening, and she realized it wasn’t a fairytale, she started to lose it. She’s just a horrible person, and I really don’t think she deserves love. Anyone who expects that much out of people, while delivering nothing in return does not deserve love

Well she really has no right to get mad at him at all for it, imo. And even if she DID, it sure is not what one would need to lead with when handling the situation with him. She can’t be mad cause she wasn’t around for that decision but she still decided to marry him so that’s marriage you take on each others bull shit.

And that’s adult life for you it’s predominantly bull shit challenges and set backs and struggles.

She has the mentality of a spoiled teen. There’s nothing much inside of her she can’t really handle reality for a woman her age she’s very immature. She doesn’t have to stay in the house and wait for him. She could go to a gym. She could go other places that are expensive just to get out you could take a cab or have him drop her off. She just doesn’t seem to be into the relationship anymore. I think she misses mommy.

I bet it’s harder to get whatever prescription she needs in SA than the US. So, she should go home. However. I don’t know why all the church people aren’t coming around. That seems like he should help her feel part of a community.

Not sure what she’s on but I also think it’s easier to get rxes over there. I flew from JFK to the Johannesburg airport and had a horrible stomach ache so I went to a pharmacy at the airport. They make you tell them your symptoms so I just said my stomach really hurt and they sold me medication that had a heady amount of codeine in it. I didn’t know until I took it and felt funny and my parents who are doctors checked the ingredients.

This is why men aren’t emotionally vulnerable and hold things in. Women constantly tell you they want men who show their emotions but all men have this very experience. The minute you open up they use it against you. Pretty sad to see and will only make it harder for Wayne to open up in future circumstances

    Signs of gold digging

    1. Marries someone with a successful plumbing business
    2. Immediately wants to buy a new house (presumably get herself as co-owner)
    3. “I gave up everything!” (She was a barber)
    4. Wants Wayne to sell everything and move to US and presumably to get a property there so she can get on the title
    5. Wants to provide her insights into Wayne’s financials with her vast experience as a barber
    6. Loses interest in the country the moment she realised Wayne is not making big money
    7. Makes a big deal of spending $5000 to buy an air ticket and wedding gown, then didn’t blink twice when she wants Wayne to drop $400k on a house.
    8. Throws a fit when Wayne spent HIS money on crypto instead of a honeymoon.
    9. Justifying all her absurd demands with “not feeling safe”

I don’t find this entirely accurate. She wanted to be somewhere safer (respectively). She is alone at the house all the time because he’s working overtime (he stupidly put a lot of money into crypto) and she’s there all by herself, half of the time in the dark. She doesn’t feel safe. She feels alone. She just wants to be somewhere where she is familiar. She doesn’t seem to ask for materialistic things. He’d be home more if he didn’t throw away all that money. She’s bored, she has no friends or family there, she can’t even take a stroll outside because it’s too dangerous. How does everyone really expect one person to be in the situation?!?!

You’ve put it in a great context. I think this sub forgets that she’s literally alone, in a new country, without support, and in a physical location that is horribly unsafe and looks to be a suburb so public transport may not be an option. Robbers killed their dog ffs. I also don’t get why this sub likes to forget that going the other way ALSO provides visa restrictions as coming to the US. She can’t work or open a bank account to provide to the joint funds which she, to me, clearly wants to do. (I’m too lazy to look up visa requirements into the SA but for other countries I’ve looked at, it typically is around the same coming to the US in regards to work visas and social benefits.)

That is true I hadn’t considered the visa part yet.

Still, I think given that what she DID know about SA, his house, and maybe just barely beforehand but beforehand none the less, financial issues, before they got married makes her more responsible. And he did tell her everything it just would never have mattered because she always kept this blank look on her face and focused on whatever part of those conversations she wanted to hear.

And it’s entirely possible she did have a change of heart and of course that doesn’t make her bad but again; she knew as much as anyone can going into a similar situation so she wasn’t blindsided. There was enough there to make an informed sound decision. The problem is she can’t make those decisions because she’s hung up on fairy tales and she has unrealistic expectations that will only set her up for disappointment . She expects happily ever after and is disappointed when life shows her that’s not possible it doesn’t exist. So it’s all how she chooses to accept that or not and make the best of it or not, or pack up her dybbuk box and her tarot cards and her tail, roll her hair up in a zip tie and hop a red eye back to Utah.

That was in South African money. Converted to United States dollars, CAD or AUD, it’s $2,000-2,300.

I don’t know why they neglect to do the currency conversion on the screen sometimes, and yet sometimes they don’t.

A good possibility is that they do the conversion on screen when it will make the plot more sensational. But when clarifying the currency doesnt add to the drama, they leave it be .

For example, with Mary and Brandon, they put the currency conversion presumably to spell out how ridiculous their business plan was.

But on the other hand, when Wayne said that he, “dumped 40 K into crypto”, they just left that as it is, because they knew the assumption would be more sensational than the reality

Now I’m understanding why Mohammed was so mad and bitter at the 90 day fiancé producers. He kept saying how they didn’t portray the story correctly, and they countered with, “these are all things that you did, Muhammad“

Meanwhile, we can see right here, even through their tactful editing, how they do everything in their power to make us see things the way they want us to .

I’m going to side with Holly on this one. If he had lost his money because of loss of business / a downturn in the economy I would understand. The problem is that he essentially gambled it away and being an irresponsible idiot is very unattractive.

I respect your opinion, but I like to ask you a question. And you don’t even have to answer it, just let it simmer for a little bit.

Let’s say the situation played out, and all the details were exactly the same, only instead of putting the money into a cryptocurrency, he bought, but he was told was a lucrative stock. So, basically, replace, “crypto” with, “stock market”

Be honest. Would you be calling him an irresponsible idiot, then? Or would you just say he made an investment that didn’t work out?

Here’s the funny thing. We have no idea if that investment worked out. Honestly, unless the value of the crypto dropped by $2000, that same day, he could reverse that decision. If you put a tiny bit of money into crypto, unless the market is extremely volatile, you can usually get it right back if you have buyers remorse. But, others have said that corresponding with the time of filming to now, it’s very likely that his investment grew.

But for some reason, no one is giving him the benefit of the doubt on this.

OP I agree with you, it’s like would he be an idiot if he gained $2k on that move? No. It’s his money. He has a house and money to take care of Holly and he works hard. It’s not like he’s some loser with nothing making an irresponsible decision. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose with crypto and stocks. It’s part of it.

Couples from the show have provided testimonials, and although some of the situations may have been created to generate drama, it is not entirely fabricated. According to the testimonials, the couples and their circumstances are genuine. Nevertheless, there is a possibility that you possess information that I am not aware of.
