  • What lifestyle? Not a single immigrant (at least from Latin America) feels living here is a rich lifestyle, not even comparing it to back home. Also plenty of immigrants lived better lives in their home country than they do here. You don’t have insight in immigrants now or from Latin America.

  • He’s saying to pay her back because it’s becoming a his money/her money type of situation. He doesn’t want to be seen as using her money because culturally speaking he should be the provider. He’s saying as soon as he can work he will pay her back because he’s not expecting her to provide for him or his responsibilities. He’s saying right now he can’t work, they both knew this before coming to the US. They should’ve talked about it.

  • Nobody equates it to being rich. Many people from Latin America know what it is to come to this country and many will live in less than preferred conditions in other to send $ back home. Lots of immigrants families live doubled up to save money and be able to send more back home. This isn’t 1920’s immigrants or European immigrants. Different cultures, views and understanding of what it is like coming to this country.

  • I think Ashley should’ve had that discussion with him before applying for a fiancé visa. She knows he couldn’t work, she knows he’s the sole provider of his family and having money to send is extremely crucial. There’s no food stamps, or food donations like food banks in Ecuador. She’s talking about 90 days isn’t enough to make a decision…the fiancé visa isn’t to make a decision, it’s only to get things together for a wedding. She told USCIS she would be responsible for him and that they are sure about getting married, she didn’t petition for a trial run of her fiancé. Latinos send a lot of money back home, is expected and is understood by many people who married someone in that position.

No he was trying to force Danielle to see that living in the DR wasn’t working. The car would’ve been in both their names or considered part of the marriage. He just wanted her to want to leave the DR and see how they couldn’t afford things there.

  • Have you ever lived that experience yourself? I’m speaking as a child that stayed behind a year in. Drive country before my mom brought me to this country. Taking me with her when she first left wasn’t a good decision. I appreciated staying behind as it gave me a time to process leaving the rest of my family. My mom was more stable by the time I made it here and made the transition a lot easier. Things like figuring out schools, health insurance, housing, community to rely on and other things that we take for granted when we live in a country we are used to navigating, are important before uprooting children.

He’s not wrong. He used the money to eat and probably help his family. He can’t afford the lifestyle Danielle has imposed on them. Danielle shoud’ve stayed in his family house because that’s what them as a couple can afford. If he wanted to steal from her he would’ve taken more than just 160$. Gino give Jasmine money without any issues and I feel Jasmine and Yohan serve the same purpose…they are in transactional relationships. Yohan would get a green card and some money while in the DR and Danielle gets to enjoy a man with a baby leg between his legs.
