Stuart and Micaela but because their joke about the half-pendant lasts a beat too long and I hate comedy like that. The joke is funny. But it makes me crazy how it drags along
Diane is cool
The “favorite episodes” answers are all exactly the same every time it’s asked, ya sheeple! There’s so many excellent episodes in between the emotional heavy-hitters.
The Chickens episode was amazing, but I fully expect most people to miss the point completely. I have never before seen vegan messages being depicted honestly, without making it a ridiculous joke. It’s fantastic to see the hypocrisy of eating animals and the myth of humane animal farming called out so honestly. It’s refreshing to see the issue addressed so directly.
I haven’t encountered this much, but for me Twilight fits the bill. It feels bad to say it because it’s fantastic that so many people loved these books and maybe some of them got into reading if they weren’t before. But for my part I was shocked how poorly written the first book was. It may have been my first time encountering truly bad writing. So devoid of any style or literary elements that I had loved. I don’t know if I’m wording this right. Like no beauty or poetry in the prose. “I got up and brushed my hair and went downstairs and made a sandwich for my dad. I didn’t make one for myself because I was not hungry.”

It ended so perfectly, there’s no more story to tell. A few shorts might be fun but even that’s not necessary.
I know this is just a tv show discussion but, I stopped thinking of people in terms of smart and dumb. Some people are smarter than others but everyone has something. Mister Peanutbutter is carefree, a little oblivious but not stupid.
As a caterer this hurts my soul cause clients be like “I need to feed 100 people breakfast for $10 per person” and then everyone gets mad when it’s not a lavish gourmet spread. Like you cannot get breakfast at McDonald’s for $10 per person not to mention having it brought up to your office and set up with plates and utensils!
There are amazing episodes besides the View From Halfway Down and Time’s Arrow etc. yet everyone’s favorites are the same few highly-dramatic episodes. Of course those are masterpieces! But the whole show is.
When I was in a really dark place I watched the show on repeat. Theres a lot of joyful moments in between the painful ones, and some great blink-and-you’ll-miss jokes. Watch it together. Best case she will be able to point to some scenes and say “I really identify with that.” Worst case you’ll enjoy an entertaining show.
Edited to add that the main theme of the show is that you keep on living and getting better but it’s not easy. You can’t skip to the end of healing, and you have to do the work. One of the best quotes in the show:
“Life sucks and then you die.”
“I think life sucks and you go on living.”
