  • Tolkien.

I have three copies of LoTR, one was the first version I read and the Return of the King is falling apart and while I don’t think they are anything fancy I have also rarely seen other copies of the same edition as it.

So I went out to buy new copies to become my reading copies and instead bought them and an illustrated edition too. I don’t play to ever read the illustrated editions in the hope they might become worth something.

Then the most ashamed multiple copy book is Roverandom. I got a copy when I was a wee lad and then a few years back I saw it for sale at Big W and it was such a wee cute book that I impulse bought it.

There are probably a few others that I have accidentally bought dupes of because I have had to put all of my books in my wardrobe so I can’t really see them.

Oh and Winter Warriors by David Gemmell. I have the copy my ex wife bought me when we were still in highschool and is the only actual display of love from her I have kept because it is my favourite book. But I first read it in tradeback form so when I found one for $3 I bought it for nostalgia’s sake. I just need someone who smokes winnie blues to read it for me so it will smell like my brother’s copy too.

  • I mean I was ten so it’s less of a non reader and more that I just didn’t read unless school related.

But when I was ten or eleven my brother was babysitting me after school and asked if I was bored and to grab a book from his bookshelf.

Since that day Winter Warriors by David Gemmell has been my favourite book and he my favourite author. I have read that book upwards of forty times so far and he is the only author that I own every book of.

  • The hell are you on about mate? Books that are almost two hundred years old are not simple, they spoke differently to is so you have to translate them even if written straightforwardly.

Easy is Twilight, Harry Potter, See Spot Run. A hundred and eighty year old book is not quite literally one of the easiest books, hell even figuratively it wouldn’t be.
