Cake day: October 9th, 2023

  • Debbie and Larissa maintain a relationship to this day, so there must not have been as much animosity between them as viewers were led to believe. Debbie recently posted looking for help with finding an immigration attorney in Canada because she wants to stay there. Seems like she wanted it for free.

Tony’s full-back Croatian Ustase tattoo is indeed disgusting but Debbie has turned a blind eye to its true meaning. I have this friend who keeps trying to get me to go with her on a trip to Croatia. I don’t care how cheap it is or how beautiful the beaches are or how many celebrities hang out there. All I can think about is the extreme cruelty and torture and mutilation carried about by Ante Pavelic in the Jasenovac concentration camp. The Nazis were terrified of Pavelic and begged Hitler not to get involved with him. I haven’t eaten breakfast yet so I won’t start recapping what means of torture they inflicted on children because I will get too queasy if I dwell on it. This is what Tony’s tattoo is all about, but I guess there’s someone for everyone and Debbie is happy with him.

  • I don’t understand why the show plays so fast and loose with the credits about where a cast member is “from.” Some examples:

Jovi was never “from” New Orleans – he’s a rural weekend warrior from Larose, 62 miles from the city. He didn’t even live in New Orleans during the apartment scenes with Yara – that was revealed to be a film set also used in “Married At First Sight.” The producers just wanted to film a lot of tourist stuff for their location scenes.

Nikki lives in neighboring Union City, NJ – not the recently gentrified Hoboken – and they film in Union City as the backdrop.

Muscle Shoals, AL was immortalized because of its famous recording studio, but Kimberly lives in Missouri these days. Maybe they can’t get decent drone footage of the local water tower where she is now.

  • That car was too clean. I stand by my theory that they were in a rental and the agency didn’t clean the vehicle thoroughly between customers.

As for replacing Jasmine and Gino with a younger couple, will the newbies meet such insane criteria as…

Read in the voice of “Stefon” from Saturday Night Live

Both partners covering chronic long-term scalp conditions like his psoriasis and her alopecia

Colored butt plugs at the bachelorette party where the bride sits on a cushion after her latest plastic surgery

Doctor-patient roleplay complete with vaginal dilators to open up after tightening surgery

An incontinent dog wearing diaper costumes

    Electric toothbrushes

The replacement couple would need to top that and then some.

  • What “TLC money”? They weren’t getting paid much to begin with by Sharp Entertainment, not the network itself, just a small amount per episode. If Statler’s story is true, they were fired from the show because Brandan’s cousin and mother posted spoilers about the pregnancy and wedding that broke the Non-Disclosure Agreement.

The problem I have with Mary’s plea is that I don’t believe a laptop is suitable for working from home. Those call centers would demand a PC equipped with specific software and a dedicated phone line in addition to a quiet workspace at home. You can’t have customers hearing a crying baby or pets in the background.

I hope they find a way out of their problem because the public is fickle and is likely to move on from them as soon as the new season is cast.

  • Did you ever stop to consider how many North Americans lost their call center jobs because your people make an “amazing $8”?

I worked at an outsourced call center from 2007 to 2011 in rural Louisiana making low hourly wages and virtually no benefits. The 330 employees in my center were trained as T-Mobile customer service representatives and we couldn’t tell the customers who verbally abused us for having such great jobs that we weren’t real T-Mobile agents. It was widely known back then that T-Mobile was one of the nation’s top companies to work for, but we didn’t work for them, just the outsourcing company. Customers who couldn’t pay their bills took their frustration out on us because they mistakenly believed we were better off than they were.

In 2010, we started noticing agents in the Philippines were gradually taking over calls from our center. I was asked if I would be interested in going to Makati City to train these agents. I could have left right away because my daughter was spending the summer with her father, but they said it would be 70 days starting from September 1, so I sadly had to turn the opportunity down. After the Louisiana team returned from training in Makati City, we were informed that our center was closing and the English calls were being routed to the Philippines and the Spanish calls to Costa Rica.

I was 51 years old when I lost my job so I had protections under the Federal WARN Act as a “worker over 50 displaced by foreign trade,” but most of the 330 people in my call center had nowhere else to go. It had a really negative impact on our community.

In 2011, I was told that 10,000 call center agents in North America lost their jobs due to re-outsourcing to countries like The Philippines. Every time I hear a customer service representative in an overseas call center, all I can feel is anger that they took our jobs away from us for that “amazing $8.”

I’m sorry but I’m in the minority on this. There is nothing that his mother can do at this point to redeem the years of misery she inflicted on Brandan. I don’t care if she’s clean now. She is the last person on earth to dispense advice to anyone. I wanted to leap through my television and confront her during that scene. The sooner her self-righteous mouthy butt gets back on the plane, the better. She didn’t deserve to be paid to appear on the show after the massive psychological trauma her kids went through.

I remember watching that season where Loren’s parents didn’t want Loren and Alexei to move to Israel and live in a kibbutz. I especially remember when Loren said they would live in Israel until the kids were old enough for military service and then take them back to the US before they were required to serve. If I recall correctly, her friend Keren said something to the effect that the kids may actually want to serve alongside the peers they grew up with in Israel. I wasn’t surprised when they abandoned their plans to move after that. The trip to check out the kibbutz caused a rift within Loren’s family and they almost didn’t come to her baby shower over it.

Without taking a position on the current conflict, I didn’t like Loren’s attitude during that season at all. Why immerse your children in that culture and then decide to pluck them out as soon as it becomes inconvenient for you? What if they don’t want to go home and they do want to serve their adopted homeland alongside their friends? Why even set up that potential family conflict in the first place? That episode really irritated me.

  • This woman angers me beyond description. She doesn’t deserve a paycheck to appear on the show. She doesn’t get a pass for being clean after everything her innocent children had to endure.

The mods removed the pictures of young Brandan dressed in three different children’s t-shirts with sexual content printed on them. Brandan didn’t choose those shirts for himself. An adult bought them and dressed him in them and posed him wearing them.

The children were taken out of their mother’s custody and placed in foster care. Brandan bounced from one living situation to the next with nothing stable or consistent in his life until Mary got her hooks into him.

I think Brandan was happy to leave his miserable life in America behind until the novelty of life with Mary wore off. Now he’s stuck with a mentally unstable wife, a baby, and elderly in-laws. He only knows bits and pieces of the language so he can’t earn a living or run their sari-sari store.

Brandan and Mary probably thought they could get by from social media projects related to being on 90DF, but the negative posts from Statler haven’t helped. Statler first claimed they had been fired for violating the Non-Disclosure Agreement, but it looks like it was first Brandan’s cousin and then his mother who posted spoilers. Then Statler claimed they were abusing a pet monkey, to which the couple responded that the monkey had done something to anger the villagers and they were keeping it indoors for its own protection. They finally released the monkey to appease their online followers.

So the future certainly isn’t bright for this young family. Mary didn’t help by livestreaming an argument they had the other day. Brandan appeared to be deeply despondent and admitted he spends too much time on his PlayStation. They certainly could have used the money wasted on bringing Brandan’s mother on as a cast member.
