Imagine you’re a normal fucking human, suddenly a superhero shows up, you marry them. He ends up being a fucking world conquering tyrant, and then you go on a little bit later and still fucking nail your job as a real estate agent? That woman has more grit than any human should.

As far as the series goes, i prefer her comic counterpart.

Like, sure, making debbie a badass who fights against his planet conqueror human instead of a fragile and breakable human is great

But portraying a person who after being called pet by his husband breaks down, falls into depression, turns alcoholic, and tells horrible stuff to her son is a million times more realistic

The show version is kind of lame and some posts prob are all bots/simps posting. You’re gonna get downvoted by them

I don’t think she has to lash out at Mark in order for it to be realistic at all. She loves her son and he literally almost got beaten to death, there are plenty of real people whose low points after something like that wouldn’t involve taking it on their son who just went through arguably worse. It’s obviously fine to prefer to comic version over the show version, or vice versa, but to act like it’s a difference in levels of realism seems silly to me.

Yeah. Honestly I prefer her to be humbler. Her being so awesome and perfect and fearless plays to the crowd but doesn’t make for a great character arc… hopefully season 2 let’s her fall apart some more so she has somewhere to go. I was really hoping they would include the line where she tears into Mark for driving Omni-Man away but they cut that out.

Correct. It’s a bit too much, I wish there was a bit more bridging between show and comic Debbie. She’s a bit too perfect.

I don’t understand this take at all, we know that she’s barely functioning and desperately trying to get through the day in the show, we see her struggle and her triumphs through the struggle. The comic handles her so much worse, they tried making her independent with the real estate thing but it was given so much less screentime than her being an alcoholic mess and >!then mothering Oliver and then it goes fully to shit when Nolan comes back and then she turns into a sex-crazed gag character!<

Doesn’t the last couple episodes show she isn’t perfect? Like the grief and alcohol aren’t exactly the sign of a person who is doing amazing, not that she should be even remotely ok in her situation.

I made a post about this last night. Debbie is becoming one of my favorite characters. Imagine being in her position. It would crush most people.

She also must have some insane security clearance.

She can just drive up to the Pentagon and waltz right in, plus she knows Cecil exists.

Debbie’s show counterpart is honestly better than her comics version.

She takes action, actively goes out to find out why her husband would kill the Guardians, is still a solid real estate agent, all while taking care of her kid. She’s a real one.

Most likely the reason why Omni-Man fell in love with her in the first place.

Yeah though I do think they’re setting her up to kill herself this season from what I’ve seen so far it looks like the direction their going

I’d argue it would take a very special person to catch the eye of Omniman. Debbie always had it.

That’s because being a real estate agent is a scam job for scummy people.

I don’t know why so many writers try and write good people as such an awful middle man soul sucking profession.

Unless real estate agents have a much much better reputation in the US than in the UK?

I’m wondering if I watched the same show as some of the people in these comments

Debbie always drinking alcohol, always breaking down into tears, having an outburst and ripping the cupboard door off its hinges and y’all are saying she’s doing too well?

Somehow I have a very bad feeling about her storyline.
Her whole life has been put upside down, her reality bubble did burst.
She gets rejected, noone actually understands her, instead she’s even getting (parts of) the blame. Mark has gone now as well.

That’s unfortunately the perfect mix for a complete breakdown or the trigger to stop giving sh*t about anyone and anything.
I would not be surprised if she turns evil or at least starts to agree to the distorted view of peace the Viltrumites are propagating.
