I love hearing so much foreign languages spoken from both native and non native speakers on this show. Since I’m learning spanish it’s good to hear the different accents and speaking speeds and stuff.
Couldn’t enjoy Daniele and yohan scenes because of the amount they literally seem to hate each other so I just fast fwd thru their scenes.
With Ashley and Clayton tho I think I get a good sense of their personalities when they speak in their non native language and they both come across really clearly and I can make out a lot of what they’re saying.
It’s refreshing anyway to see this more on this season.
Ashley has got some patience w this player.
Also shoutout to Igor for trying his best as well
I agree! I’m so envious!
It is super sweet they made the effort, however, still to this day some of my favourite scenes on the show are when google translators were used 😂
I’ll waste that money again!
All I hear now when I see Ashley is, “OTRA VEZ!!!”
As a native Spanish speaker, I low-key cringe for the way Manuel dumbs down his Spanish.
I do too, it’s like what some English speaking partners do with the non-English speaking person, almost speaking to them as if they’re stupid or something, but the opposite way
HOLA SUEGRA !!! HOLA !!!
I heard her say “mi vida” ten times.
For me it’s “YO TENGO INTERNET”
Yes
Lol. All I hear when I see her is “Mi vida”.
Ashley’s Spanish is super primitive and grating to listen to considering that she actually stayed in a latam country, but not nearly as bad as Danielle. Could just be from the way she speaks in general tho lol. Clayton impressed me though with the accent (I laughed when he tried to explain his way around ‘montar caballo’ – very relatable as a Spanish learner)
“Ashley’s Spanish is super primitive and grating to listen to considering that she actually stayed in a latam country, but not nearly as bad as Danielle.”
Totally agree. It’s painful to listen to them.
Too bad both partners are garbage.
Clayton’s verb conjugations are impressive! Compared to Daniele who seems to have stopped at the present tense.
I hate saying this about people learning foreign languages because I know what it takes, but Danielle’s Spanish drives me crazy 🙊
I do not speak Spanish by any stretch, but when Danielle speaks I literally understand 80% of what she says.
Yeah, making the effort is really great, I agree. But look at Pedro. His English sucks after all these years. As long as people understand you, I guess the finer points of a learned language, can wait till later (after the drama subsides, if ever. Lol).
Universal language of love …… a forearm.
Also Daniele does not even try to change her Americanized pronunciation haha and same with Ashley tbh but Ashley at least has a lot of grammar and vocab down. I can’t imagine ever dating someone even if they were fluent in English and not trying to learn their native language if anything just to make them more comfortable and familiar plus it’s fun and good for you!
I was going to say it is SO refreshing to see these 2 learn their partners language. And they’re both very impressive with it! It always just kind of irked me when there’s couples who have been together years and don’t even make a half ass effort to try to learn even the bare minimum.
Clayton especially! He’s been one of the best partners to learn Spanish I think I’ve heard on this show ever!
Another one I gotta give credit to unfortunately is the creepy Mormon who learned Russian for his Russian wife. Steven with a V. I don’t think Russian is a very easy language to learn, and I’m pretty sure he also got some sort of defense contract job due to his Russian.
I also always wonder if Kobe knows Mandarin, due to the fact he was living in China.
I was reading on a post one day, people were saying that Ashley speaks it very well. Much like a local. Unlike Danielle.
I’m learning Spanish right now as an adult and it’s HARD. I have a lot of respect for them both, even if it’s not perfect. It’s not something that comes naturally to everyone and takes a lot of time, effort, and repetition
It’s actually helpful for my rudimentary Spanish’s.
I love Ashley saying ¿que es tu problema?! with so much sass during the phone fight lol
